Head of Ocean Recovery

Peter is a conservation biologist with a speciality in marine turtle conservation, research, and community-based conservation. Peter has been with the MCS since 2001 and he set up our marine turtle conservation programme with his wife Sue Ranger. Peter coordinates our Turks and Caicos Islands Turtle Project and oversees our marine protected area work that includes Seasearch. He has also runs our citizen-science Jellyfish survey. Recently Peter and Sue have developed our ground-breaking Community Voice Method of engaging stakeholders in marine conservation. To summarise, Peter is an enthusiastic fish geek, turtle nerd and naturalist. As a father of two delightful children, he still finds time for his other hobbies that include swimming, snorkelling, photography and cider brewing.
