Bovisand Beach, Plymouth, Devon, 2021, Billy Barraclough

This is a short written or spoken activity to help you acknowledge your compassion for nature, the ocean and marine life. Through recognising our compassion, we can channel constructive action.

Before you begin

You will need:

  • Something to record your thoughts. This could be a pen and paper, laptop, computer, or an audio recorder if you’d prefer not to write.
  • Somewhere quiet to reflect and write or speak.

Time needed:

The time you need will vary depending on how much you have to say. For some it could be a quick five-minute activity, for others it may take longer.

The activity

For this activity, you'll be empathising with nature, the ocean or marine animals.

Watch the video below and listen to the music and sounds while you complete it.

We recommend that you follow this up with one of our other activities so you can release any difficult feelings and return to a place of ocean optimism.

This project is funded by the Government's Green Recovery Challenge Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm's-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England, the Environment Agency and Forestry Commission.
