Business West Volunteer Day Beach Clean - Fri 11th Sept 2026
Join this beach clean to help us stop harmful litter from reaching the ocean and collect vital data that we can use to bring about positive change for our seas.
A Business West volunteering day, for all staff from all departments. A great opportunity to spend a day volunteering with your colleagues, for a very good cause, cleaning Weston-Super-Mare beach. We will survey 100 metres of the beach and keep a record of what we find, so that it can be sent to MCS to help them understand and report what is being washed up on the beach. Surveying is an important part of driving change to help protect the environment. I will have printed survey sheets, or you could download the app and add the information on to your phone to save paper. Please wear sturdy shoes, and bring gloves (strong ones, such as gardening gloves) as you are picking up direct from the beach. Bring a packed lunch and drinks, we will have a group break together. There's paid and street parking locally, please take note of any parking restrictions.

What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).
What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.
Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.
