HRH King Charles III speaking to Marine Conservation Society

King Charles III continues his Royal Patronage of the Marine Conservation Society

1 minute read

We are honoured and thrilled to have King Charles continue his Royal Patronage. King Charles III has been our Patron for more than 30 years, playing an active role in our launch.

An early supporter of our mission

His Royal Highness King Charles III was one of a group of forward-thinking people concerned about the state of our seas in the early 1970s, lending his support to the scientists and scuba divers who devised the Underwater Conservation Year 1977, giving momentum to form what became the Marine Conservation Society.

The King is an ardent conservationist and we’re overwhelmed to have such a passionate advocate of the natural world on our side.

What his support means to us

As a charity that works with and for sea lovers, it is a huge boost that His Majesty has chosen to continue his support as we strive for a cleaner, better protected, and healthier ocean. The King’s concern about climate change is well known and his influence is invaluable in our work to protect the ocean – the world’s heart and lungs.

Royal support

His Majesty before he became The King has visited several of our projects over the years and we would like to say a big thank you for everything he has done to support our environment and ocean.
