Join our Good Fish Guide testing panel and be the first to try out new features

2 minute read

If you have 10 minutes to spare, we'd love you to test out the new Good Fish Guide feature that we hope will make it even easier for people to find sustainability ratings, but we want to know what you think.

Why do we want to improve our Good Fish Guide?

We know that seafood sustainability is an issue many people feel strongly about. We also know that people find sustainability ratings confusing.

Our recent sustainable seafood survey has helped us to consider what matters most to you, and how we can improve the Good Fish Guide to help people make more informed choices when buying seafood.

Read on to see how you can take part - and there's the option to download the results from our great Big Good Fish Guide Survey at the end of the article too.

Join our testing panel

We'd like to invite you to test out a new feature we're developing to make our Good Fish Guide even better. Our new tool will take people through a step-by-step process to find a sustainability rating for the seafood in front of them.

By giving us your opinion on the steps, you’ll be helping us to understand how easy the search tool is to use – and how we can improve it.

The step-by-step feature will be released to the public later on this year, and your input will make a real difference.

Short on time - you can still take part

If you don't have time to complete the test, you can take photos of each package (from all sides, front and back) and email them to us at [email protected] or tag us in a post about them on Twitter @mcsuk and @GoodFishGuideUK. Use the hashtag #seafoodsnap so we can find your post nice and easily.

Simple steps to get set up

Step one

First you need to select some seafood in packaging. Ideally we'd like you pick at least three types of seafood – the more, the better.

We're going to ask you questions based on the information on the packet itself, so keep the seafood it in its packaging.

  • This could be a packet of seafood that you already have in your freezer
  • If you're not planning to buy seafood this week, you can take photos of packets in a supermarket. It's best to snap all sides of the packet to make sure you catch all the information (make sure you can read the writing on the packet).

Step two

Now it's time to take part in our guided testing process – it will take around seven minutes to complete for each packet.

  • Open our testing panel, below. This will guide you through the information we'd like you to look at, and ask you some simple questions.
  • Remember: If you don't have time to complete the test, you can take photos of each package (from all sides, front and back) and email them to us at [email protected] or tag us in a post about them on Twitter @mcsuk and @GoodFishGuideUK. Use the hashtag #seafoodsnap so we can find your post nice and easily.

Don't forget

We'd love to collect all of your comments by midnight 10th October 2021. That will give us time to collate and prioritise your feedback so our developers can make any changes before we launch our new tool later this year.

A massive thank you from the Good Fish Guide team!
