Keyhole limpet

Diodora graeca

Type

Molluscs, Shells

Description

The animal’s shell is very limpet like, ridged and with a slotted hole at the apex of the shell.

Unlike its common limpet relatives, the bright orangey-yellow animal inside seems not to fit inside its shell.

Location

Widespread but uncommon - you just might find one on lower shore rocks, or a washed up shell.
