Description

A knobbly, large but slender crab with long jointed legs. It is often covered with sponges and seaweed and so is difficult to spot.

These crabs sometimes come together to form huge crowds of individuals, staying in one place for many weeks at a time while they moult and mate.

Location

This species is common, especially in the South and West, sometimes found in lower shore pools.
