Description

A dark, mostly grey/brown goose with a distinctive white neck patch. Calls with a pleasant chattering sound.

A paler light-bellied form can be found in Northern Ireland and Northumberland.

Location

Large flocks gather in Winter on marshes and playing fields around Portsmouth, North Norfolk and the Wash, and the Thames estuary.
