Tara Proud - Scotland

Hello! I’m Tara and I’m lucky enough to cover Scotland – a beautiful country with and an amazing 10% of Europe’s coastline and some spectacular nature. For as long as I can remember I have loved the sea and many of my best memories from childhood are from family trips to the beach. I’ve always been fascinated by nature and wanted to help protect it so I am excited to be working for the Marine Conservation Society in such a beautiful part of the world.

Before working here, I was at the RSPB for 5-years and I started out my conservation career working for the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. In my free time I am a voluntary trainer for Capturing our Coast and I also volunteer with British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) and the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme (SMASS).

Scotland has a network of fantastic Sea Champion volunteers who are helping the Marine Conservation Society to protect our coasts and seas. If you would like to find out more about volunteering for the Marine Conservation Society, then please do get in touch as I would love to hear from you so that we can work out the best role for you. One great thing about volunteering for the Marine Conservation Society is that it is so flexible: we are grateful for any time that you can give us - however much or little that you can spare. And there are loads of different ways in which you can get involved, it really just depends on what you are interested in doing and what you’re looking to get out of the experience.
