Tom Burd - from Burton on Trent
Having been a keen scuba diver and photographer for the past ten years, I’ve developed a true passion for the underwater world. It was therefore only natural to become a Sea Champion as soon as I got to university, to help protect the marine life that I love seeing! This was also a great opportunity for me to develop my self confidence and leadership qualities whilst doing something rewarding.
What are the highlights so far?
The best part about volunteering has been the realisation that people really do care about the protection of marine life and our coasts. Seeing children’s enthusiasm about wildlife issues is especially warming. The events are also at some really cool locations like Blair Drummond Safari Park and the Edinburgh Botanical gardens! Finally, my time with MCS has given me the experience needed to gain a place on a turtle conservation project in Costa Rica this winter!Back to the list
