MCS welcomes George Eustice MP to his new position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary within the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

MCS welcomes George Eustice MP to his new position of Parliamentary Under-Secretary within the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Mr Eustice replaces Richard Benyon MP who, having served for almost five years in both Shadow and Government capacities, returns to the backbenches. With an announcement expected shortly on the first 31 Marine Conservation Zones proposed for designation and Government’s intentions for future designations, the first Marine Plans in the Eastern Region currently out for public consultation, and significant negotiations still going on within the EU on funding for the reformed Common Fisheries Policy, Mr Eustice assumes the position at an extremely busy and significant time for our marine environment. We welcome the appointment of a Minister with the seas on his doorstep. With a constituency spanning both the north and south coasts of Cornwall, we welcome the appointment of a Minister with the seas on his doorstep. As the UK charity dedicated to the protection of our seas, shores and wildlife, we look forward to meeting the Minister in coming weeks to make sure that the marine environment remains firmly on the political agenda.
