MCS heads to Downing Street to hand in YOUR pledges Message to minister ‘don’t let the public down’ MCS was joined by the RSPB, WWF and the Wildlife Trusts in London today (12th June 2013) as the four charities handed in to 10 Downing Street over 350,000 pledges, calling for an ecologically coherent network of Marine Conservation Zones (MCZs). The pledges have come from supporters of all four NGOs, from people visiting aqauria and those attending various seaside events. The NGOs say this show of public support, following the highly succesful march in February orgnaised by MCS, led by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and attended by 2,000 supporters of MCZs, provides the Government with a mandate for swift and effective action on marine protection. Thanks to YOU - our fabulous supporters, the campaign for 127 Marine Conservation Zones has achieved amazing things over the last six months. As well as all those pledges and the march, over 40,000 of you have responded to the Government consultation earlier this year! We’ve put together this flipbook to say a big ‘thank you’. As we await the Government’s June decision on which sites it will protect first - you can help keep the pressure on Richard Benyon and his Defra colleagues by tweeting your support.
