Beneath the Waves: Our new supporter events

1 minute read

Dive deeper 'Beneath the Waves' with our series of online talks where you can hear from our experts on a range of ocean topics.

We're excited to be launching our new supporter events, Beneath the Waves. These free online events will run three times a year, with the first taking place on 22nd June 2022.

We hope to give you, our supporters, a deeper insight into the Marine Conservation Society and our work from some of our expert team. With presented talks and a follow-up audience Q&A, you'll have the chance to learn more about important topics surrounding ocean health and recovery, and learn how we're making a difference.

Wednesday 22nd June: The ocean's role in combatting climate change

Join us for our first Beneath the Waves online event on Wednesday 22nd June from 7pm-8pm.

With our Head of Ocean Recovery, Dr Peter Richardson, and guest host Miranda Krestovnikoff, we'll be exploring the role the ocean plays in combatting climate change.

During the event, Dr Peter Richardson will talk about the ocean’s role in storing carbon and how rewilding our seas can increase biodiversity and help us deal with the climate crisis.

With a follow-up discussion and an audience Q&A, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the ocean, what it can do, and what we can do to help it.

To register, sign up via our Eventbrite page.

Rather than a set ticket price, we ask attendees to make a donation when registering, to contribute to our campaigning and lobbying work.

Dr Peter Richardson is the Head of Ocean Recovery at the Marine Conservation Society where he oversees and supports the charity’s Marine Protected Areas work, the conservation programme in the UK Overseas Territories and Seasearch. He also supports our Community Voice Method engagement work and is self-confessed turtle nerd, having spent many years running turtle conservation programmes overseas.
