Will you take the 2.6 Challenge for us?
Date posted: 22 April 2020
On Sunday 26th April, the 40th London Marathon was set to raise millions of pounds for charities, including for the Marine Conservation Society. As lockdown continues and Coronavirus causes mass gathering events to be cancelled, the UK’s mass participation event industry has come together to create the 2.6 Challenge to save the UK’s charities.
So, from Sunday 26th April, we’re asking you to dream up an activity based around 2.6 or 26 and set yourself a challenge to help fundraise for MCS.
People of all ages are taking on the 2.6 Challenge with a host of activities – from walking, running or cycling 2.6 miles, juggling for 2.6 minutes, to holding online workouts with 26 friends. The ideas and options are endless – here at MCS we are getting creative with ideas linked to our work, such as collecting 26 pieces of litter on our daily walks, or creating a playlist of 26 marine themed songs.
There are just five simple steps to take:
- Dream up your 2.6 Challenge activity – if you need help there are lots of ideas here.
- Register your challenge at our Just Giving page. You can also set up your own Just Giving page if you prefer.
- Ask all your friends and family to sponsor you and challenge them to do their own 2.6 Challenge.
- Complete your challenge.
- Share a photo or video of your challenge on social media using the hashtags #twopointsixchallenge #oceanindoors and tag @mcs_uk on Instagram and @mcsuk on Twitter
Please do remember that you must follow government guidelines on exercise and social distancing. We really hope that you can help us at this difficult time. All donations will help our work saving our seas.
