Site overview: This site is located in Liverpool Bay, lying between 3 and 20 km off the Fylde coast and Ribble estuary. The site protects an area of approximately 260 km2. The depth of the seabed here ranges from almost being exposed at low tide (just 35 cm depth) to 22 meters at its deepest part. This is an important nursery and spawning ground for a number of fish species including sole, plaice and whiting.
