Monach Isles NCMPA
The Monach Isles, also known as Heisker, are an island group west of North Uist in the Outer Hebrides. Around 820 breeding black guillemots rely on the rich feeding grounds in the sea here, this is approximately 2.2% of the British population.
There is also a Special Area of Conservation here, which is a type of Marine Protected Area. This protects the seal population here.
