Thank you for telling the government to protect our seas

Date posted: 24 July 2018

THANK YOU - an amazing 21,520 of you took part in our campaign urging Environment Minister Michael Gove to designate 41 proposed new Marine Conservation Zones in English seas.

This is an amazing result, especially considering the consultation was quite a complex one to complete, and only ran for six weeks up to the 20th July.

We have been assured by Defra that your contributions count as part of the consultation.

But the work does not stop here.

Government will consider the consultation responses and announce its decision later this year on whether all of the sites will go on to be protected. We will be asking Mr Gove for a meeting to press home the need for the government him to be ambitious, and we will resume the pressure through Parliament once MPs return from summer recess.

We will make your voices count. Thank you again and watch this space for updates.
