Additional information:

Wardie Bay Beachwatch is a growing club which aims to get neighbours together to meet and look after our shared back garden. We also aim to help spread the word on the need for better waste management in our homes, businesses and communities, and tackle the lack of recycling provision and excess plastic in our everyday lives.

This is a year of optimism. The Scottish Government is leading the way in the context of the UK, promising to integrate a deposit return scheme to limit and discourage excess single-use of drinking containers and now they've banned Unconventional Oil & Gas onshore! Renewable energy and sustainable practices are the way forward, not fossil fuels for more single-use plastic. This is a heartfelt thank you to our Government for this enlightened and progressive position.

Please come and encourage friends to come. Or you might want to come to see if you fancy becoming a MCS Sea Champion of your own local beach.

Please take part in our survey, but as we get increasing numbers we are able to spread out more and do a thorough sweep of the Harbour.

Gloves and litter picking equipment are provided.

Wardie Bay Beachwatch runs monthly events so if you want to plan ahead, please get in touch.

Please also visit our facebook page @WardieBayBeachwatch or twitter @wardiebaybeach and sign up for updates, pics and shares.

Looking forward to seeing you!

Call Karen on 07803 582789 or write to wardiebaybeachwatch@gmail.com for further information.

Please also tell friends that MCS runs workshops in schools for kids to learn all about marine conservation. In Scottish Seas we have the endangered Leatherback Sea Turtle, the oldest of all sea turtle species, which has been on earth for over 150 million years. This species survived the extinction of the dinosaurs and thrived until the last several decades when humans, climate change and marine plastics have taken a major toll. MCS has a workshop on this wonderful creature and kids can meet a life-size model called Stuart. See the MCS Cool Seas education programme on the website for more information and resources: http://www.mcsuk.org/coolseas/.
