Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
The time has come for the annual Great Global Nurdle Hunt (13 - 22 March 2020)!
Join us at Uphill Beach for a beach clean and nurdle hunt on Sunday 15th March and join thousands worldwide searching for nurdles, to illustrate the global extent of a little-known form of microplastic pollution, nurdles.
As well as nurdle hunting we will be doing a beach clean and survey, recording the litter we pick up.
Litter pickers, bags and sieves will be provided. We have some gloves available but if you have your own pair of thick protective gloves, please bring them.
Please bring a reusable bottle of water etc - beach cleaning can be thirsty work!
How to find us:
