Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
RSPB Dolphinwatch are having a Christmas beach clean at Torry Battery on Sunday 8 December. Go into the new year feeling good having made a positive difference to the environment, both for ourselves and the wildlife that call it home.
We will meet at the car park at Torry Battery for 12:00 to run through a quick health and safety brief then hand out equipment, then head off four approx an hour to clean around the Battery, in the car parks and down on the beach.
Litter picks, gloves and biodegradable bags will be provided but please bring your own gloves and bags if possible.
Since it's a Christmas beach clean we welcome (plastic free) fancy dress, so Santa hats, reindeer antlers and Christmas jumpers (even if they are covered in warm coats) are all encouraged.
We'll take a group photo at the to share our efforts on social media and encourage more people to get involved next time.
Keep a look out for our New Year beach clean in January too!
