Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
Part of the annual Great British Beach Clean

The P 6/7s from Tobermory School are heading out with Ms Bidwell to the local shore to join in the Great British Beach Clean 2018.
We can help to combat plastic pollution in many ways at home and when we shop as well as encouraging others to reduce their plastic, be more sustainable and to dispose of waste responsibly.
"Picking up three" is a great sentiment and we all have time to do that! Imagine if everyone in Scotland picked up three pieces each day (although we all wish we didn't have to....) ......how many less pieces of waste would there be at the end of one week....how many less pieces at risk of entering our oceans? You can ask Tobermory P6 / 7s :0)
If you would like to join in the Great British Beach Clean or Beachwatch elsewhere, there are events all over Argyll and Bute and elsewhere in the country throughout the year.
Please have a look at the tab for ‘Beach clean events’ at the top of the page and search under County for Argyll.
On Mull on Friday 14th - why not join Mull-Adopt-a-Beach on the shores of Loch Buie at Laggan Sands 12:30-15:00 (please see this website under tab ‘Beach Clean Events’ and search Beach Name: Laggan Sands)
Thank you
