Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.

In conjunction with the launch of Georgina Stevens' book, Finn the Fortunate Tiger Shark and his Fantastic Friends, which teaches children about ocean plastic and what they can do to help, we are holding the World's Biggest Beach Clean and we very much hope you can come along! There will be lots of fun games for the children, seaweed investigations, refreshments, a raffle and goody bags for the children! We'll also be building a life size plastic whale and listening to some fascinating speakers. And do come and join all the volunteers in forming the words ACT NOW on the beach. Please register if you can make it here or by emailing mary@bethechangebooks.org and let us know how many children will be in your group. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you then!
