The survey will start at 9.00 for those interested and /or experienced in identifying every piece of rubbish over the 100m stretch that was first surveyed in 2005. Recording forms etc will be provided.
The beach clean over a larger area will start from 9.30, and bags, pickers and gloves will be available, but please bring your own gloves if you can. We also advise wearing sturdy shoes and be prepared for whatever the weather will be on the day.
This survey and beach clean we will be partnering with RSPCA Mallydams Wood as it is one of the areas where rehabilitated marine animals are released.
The beach at Pett Level has Northern Fulmar nesting on the cliffs nearby and if we are lucky we may have a flyby or two! The Northern Fulmar is the only resident northern hemisphere relative of the albatross, and unfortunately research has shown that almost 100% of Northern Fulmar in the English Channel have ingested micro plastic.
