Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
Part of the annual Great British Beach Clean
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
This lovely beach is a short walk from the car park and there are a lot of large boulders; please wear flat, waterproof shoes; wellies are ideal. No sandals please. There is a cafe nearby, but please bring water with you. Wear warm clothing in layers and bring a waterproof/sun hat and suncream. There are no toilets here so go before you come! this event is supported by The National Trust who have kindly given their permission and helped with publicity. The tide will be out during the clean but the sand will be wet. We will provide gloves for the clean but bring your own if you are bringing small children. We will do a litter survey as well as just a clean, so please arrive on time to set everything up and get your kit.
