Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
Hello everyone!
As it stands, we'll be making our way down from GLASGOW with our staff members and any volunteers from this end. We'll be driving through to grab cleaning equipment on hire so please take care of all items borrowed!
We'll be meeting at 12:00 the tide timetable which is a big red sign (which you can google image for reference, POSTCODE: EH4 6QU)
Please arrive no later than 12:15 as we'll need to run over health and safety regulations for the day. The tide will be lowest at 12:30 - so by the time we're set up and ready to survey it will be safest to be out.
HOWEVER; the shore itself will be wet, so we're making it mandatory that everyone is wearing closed shoes that has appropriate grip (trainers/sensible shoes) as we want to avoid anyone slipping.
Wise things to bring along:
- Water
- Suncream/Caps/Hats (if we're lucky enough to get sun)
- If you so happen to have any cleaning equipment of your own...!
We'll be bringing along refreshments and our own first aid kit, but bringing your own would be handy.
We're using this day to raise money for the #2minutebeachclean and the Marine
Conservation Society; we'll have a donations bucket and an izettle as well as our online link over at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/clearoceanstea that we'd appreciate if you shared among friends.
Any other info please email us at contact@tempoteabar.com, or call on 0141 387 9519 for any further questions.
Ta!
Lina
