Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
Part of the annual Great British Beach Clean
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
It's time for the Great British Beach Clean!
This event at Cramond will be coinciding with the Great British Beach Clean which is celebrating it's 25th birthday! We will be encouraging as many people as possible to head to their local beach over the 14th-17th of September to gather that all important data we can give to government and industry to get the changes our seas need!
If you are free to join us at Cramond we will be meeting at 10am near the tide timetable on the way to the causeway to Cramond Island. After a briefing we will head down to do the normal 100m stretch for the beach clean and survey. Between 11-12 we will then be doing a wider litter pick of the area.
Everybody is welcome! If anyone under the age of 16 would like to take part we will have consent forms on the day to be filled in by the accompanying responsible adult.
Please do feel free to share with friends and family as we are hoping to make this event the biggest one yet!
Any questions please do not hesitate to get in touch on catherine.gemmell@mcsuk.org
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you on the beach!
All the best,
Catherine and Calum
