Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
Thank you to the record breaking 170 volunteers who came to our April beach clean and survey at Cramond!
We are now looking for any willing volunteers to help clean and survey the usual 100m stretch on the 30th of June for our summer data window.
We will be meeting at 10am near the tide timetables next to the causeway to Cramond Island for a safety briefing and to hand out equipment.
We usually then spend about an hour doing the survey of the 100m section and then a further hour of a general clean of the area.
We recommend you come dressed for the Scottish weather and always wear closed toed shoes.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Catherine on Catherine.gemmell@mcsuk.org
We look forward to seeing you on the beach!
Best Wishes,
Catherine and Calum
