Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
The Brighton Dolphin Project is running a beach clean to celebrate World Oceans Day, in collaboration with Marine Conservation Society, Sussex Wildlife Trust, Plastic Oceans UK, and Deans Beach & Environment Volunteers.
We are using this day to celebrate everything amazing about our oceans, as well as showcasing the efforts people can take to tackle single-use plastic pollution on their local beach. The Brighton Dolphin Project's Discovery Centre will also be hosting a series of fun activities including a Dolphin Watching VR Experience, scavenger hunts, arts & crafts, and displaying of marine artifacts.
All of the rubbish we collect will be used to create a piece of artwork known as 'Spiraling out of Control' to demonstrate the devastating effect single-use plastic has on our seas, shores, and wildlife.
We hope to see you there!
