This is a joint event with the Sussex Wildlife Trust and MCS. The aim of the day is to carry out a beach litter clean and survey and afterwards carry out a Shoresearch survey (timed species search and walkover) and hopefully incorporate some Big Seaweed Search ID too.

Both elements will provide some really useful data and the chance to get involved with some similar projects between MCS and SWT.

All beach cleaning equipment will be provided and please wear sturdy/waterproof shoes. Wellies would be best.

  • I agree to read and follow the information relating to Health and Safety available in the organiser guide.
  • I agree to carry out a risk assessment in advance of Beachwatch events and I will keep a written record of these assessments.
  • I will record the details of any accident or incident of concern during the event and report this to MCS.
  • I will give a Health and Safety briefing to any volunteers before events start.
  • I understand that I must not supervise young volunteers under 16 years of age, nor allow anybody who is not their legally responsible adult to supervise them (some examples of legally responsible adults include: their parent, guardian, school teacher or guide leader).
  • I understand that if no surveys have been conducted within three years my beach will become available for others.
