Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
Dear Ladies and Gents, it's that time again where the MSS would like to invite you to our monthly beach clean at our newly adopted Batten Bay Beach for our monthly beach clean, this event will be co-hosted with our friends from UPSU Scuba, UPSU Netball Society and Looe Marine Conservation Group . The clean up will be conducted on behalf of the MCS where all litter collected will be surveyed as part of an ongoing dataset.
We aim to be on the beach and beginning cleaning for 12 noon, the clean will take one-two hours depending on the conditions but we will remain on site for both hours for those that wish to continue cleaning afterwards or wish to talk to us.
Travel: There is a large free car park above the beach for those driving.
For those without a car, we suggest catching the Mt Batten Ferry costing £1.50 and walking towards the SW coastal path and the beach is on your right.
Any questions or queries feel free to post them on here or message us directly.
We look forward to seeing you all there!
