Following the latest restrictions, governments across the UK have updated their guidance on volunteering. Volunteering can continue provided you do not need to self-isolate, you follow social distancing guidance and are Covid-secure.
Your safety is of utmost importance to us. Where possible, we are happy for volunteers to run small, private beach cleans with their family or allocated bubble, but please always check and follow national and local guidelines around lock down restrictions, along with the following rules:
To help we have updated all our resources including the health and safety guidelines and Q&A. Please do have a look at these and review the government advice before you start.
If you’ve never run a beach clean or litter survey before we’re happy to help you get started. Please give our team a call on 01989 567807 or email us at Beachwatch@mcsuk.org
To join us on this beach clean, please first register as a volunteer. You will then be able to sign up to this event on this page to let us know that you will be coming.
UPDATE:
Saturday 1 February
This is the rescheduled date for the beach clean cancelled in January. All other details the same.
The Dolphinwatch team are holding their first beach clean of the new year.
Start of the New Year by giving back to your local community and helping to protect the local wildlife by joining us for what we hope will be our biggest beach clean of the year. Last year, with the support of Surfers Against Sewage, we had an amazing 150 people support the clean, collecting over 90 bags of litter, can we beat that this year?
We will be meeting on the lower deck of the esplanade opposite the beach ballroom on Saturday 1 February 2020. We will meet at 10am for a short safety brief and hand out equipment with the aim to start the clean at 10:30 and meet back at 12:00 to sort the litter and take a group photo of our efforts.
All equipment will be provided, including gloves, little picks and bags, but please bring any additional bags or gloves if you are able.
Everyone is welcome to join us as we will be trying to spread out as far along Aberdeen Beach as we can to collect as much litter as possible.
Every piece of litter we collect helps protect wildlife and allows us to enjoy spending time on beaches that are clean and safe.
