Weymouth lies within the “World Heritage Coast”. The central beach is adjacent to the town and harbour with lots of events, activities and amusements during summer. The bay is sheltered and swimmers benefit from the gradually sloping sea bed.

Activities

This family beach has a multitude of activities on offer from swimming, snorkelling, Kayaking and trampolining to crazy golf and Punch and Judy. There are Pedalos, Swingboats and donkey rides too.

Wildlife and Walks

Learn more about the town and join an organised trail or visit one of the RSPBs reserves - Radipole & Lodmoor - Radipole lake has 250 bird species and over 200 plants. The Coastal Path runs past the beach - head south for the Chesil Beach tombolo and north east, around the bay, to Overcombe.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
