Almost hidden behind the rocky outcrop of Torness Point, and within sight of the nuclear power station, this beautiful sandy beach runs south for about 400m, backed along its length by shallow dunes.

Activities

The beach is used for swimming, windsurfing and fishing.

Wildlife and Walks

There is a bird watching site at Barns Ness, 3km to the north. The Geology Trail starts in the car park at Whitesands Bay.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, during the bathing season, 1st June to 15th September.
