A half-moon bay made up of sandy beaches and a harbour, backed by the town of Stonehaven.

The beach is used for boating and it can be popular for fishing.

Wildlife and Walks

Explore the town - their is a museum to the south, near the harbour and many places to eat within the town. The RSPBs Scotland Fowlsheugh reserve is south of the beach, a short drive away. Walk Highlands have information on walking in the area: https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/aberdeenshire/

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency, during the bathing season, 1st June to 15th September.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
