A sand and shingle beach in the well-established seaside town of Hastings.

Swimming and other water sports are popular and there are entertainments on the pier.

Wildlife and Walks

Explore nearby Hastings and pay a visit to the old fishing quarter. Rye Harbour, managed by the Sussex Wildlife Trust, is fairly close (a 40 minute drive). There is a wealth of birds and flowers at Rye - from godwits and grebes to teal and tufted ducks.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
