Newcastle is a seaside resort situated at the western end of a long sandy beach stretching to Murlough and the entrance to Dundrum Bay. It has a busy high street set back from the beach with shops, cafes and amusement arcades.


Swimming either in the sea or in the heated outdoor pools. There is a pitch and putt golf course and a boating lake with plastic swan shaped pedallos. There are plenty of amusement arcades and the Slippery Dip slide for children.

Wildlife and Walks

There is a large country park or the long beach for a casual stroll or the Mourne Mountains for the more serious walker. A day walk up Slieve Donard. It’s possible to tackle Northern Ireland’s highest mountain from Newcastle.
