A popular family beach, set within a long sandy rural bay, including both rocky and single areas. It has a sailing club and a zoned area for boats, windsurfers and kite boarders. A great place to watch the sun set into the sea. Beach wheelchairs are available.


Popular activities here include swimming, water sports (zoning applies) and fishing . There is also a children’s play area. There are national sailing and windsurfing competitions held here. Thanet Coast work to protect coastal wildlife in the area - they often run events.

Wildlife and Walks

There are coastal cycle and walking routes shown on a sign at the beach entrance. There is also a sign indicating the types of flora and fauna found at the beach. Monkton Nature Reserve is a few miles away and has dragonflies, grass snakes, water voles, brown long-eared bats and sparrow hawks.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards
