Lusty Glaze is a privately owned beach and resort. The cove has beautiful golden sands and is sheltered by dramatic 200ft cliffs.


There are many activities to do at this beach – including many water sports (zoning applies). There is a children’s area and surf board hire. There are opportunities to climb, abseil, experience coasteering and jump on a zip wire . The beach is also known for being an excellent music venue.

Wildlife and Walks

The beach is on the main coastal footpath stretching north. You can walk along the cliffs to Watergate Bay or south through Newquay and its historic harbour.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

High levels of bacteria in the water can indicate pollution from sewage treatment works or polluted rain water draining from the land.

Water quality can be reduced for up to 72 hours after heavy rain. Look out for temporary signs at the beach and on our website.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
