A Shingle beach popular with windsurfers, kite surfers and sailors. There are some excellent reserves nearby.


Windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing are popular here. There is a kitesurfing and sailing club here and the Perch on Lancing Beach restaurant.

Wildlife and Walks

Wander along this long stretch of beach towards worthing or Shoreham and Brighton. To the east is the RSPBs Adur Estuary, where there are some fantastic bird species such as dunlin, lapwing and redshank. Nearby also is WWT’s Arundel Wetland Centre where they offer boat safaris.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Water quality can be reduced for up to 72 hours after heavy rain. Look out for temporary signs at the beach and on our website.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
