A sandy beach surrounded by dunes and within the Snowdonia National Park. Harlech is designated as a National Nature Reserve. The 13th century Harlech castle stands on the cliff above the beach and is open to visitors.

Activities

Swimming, walking and bird watching are popular here. There is a golf club here and plenty of places for a bite to eat in nearby Harlech.

There is spectacular scenery in the area and several good wildlife-watching spots, including: Morfa Bychan & Greenacres, Traeth Glaslyn and Gwaith Powdwr - the North Wales Wildlife Trust have more information on these fantastic sites.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
