A large sandy beach on the ‘Devon Riviera’ with excellent facilities. Often attracts large numbers of visitors. Situated in front of Goodrington Park and looks out over Tor Bay.

Activities

There is a water park - Splashdown Waterpark Quaywest. There are good rockpools to explore at low tide.

Wildlife and Walks

The town of Paignton. The harbour and marine centre are all within walking distance from the beach. Goodrington Park is good for bird watching. The South West Coast Path runs past the beach, taking you north around Tor Bay or south to Brixham, past Elberry Cove.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Water quality can be reduced for up to 72 hours after heavy rain. Look out for temporary signs at the beach and on our website.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
