A sandy beach and resort situated at the mouth of the River Dee and within Nun Mill Bay.

Activities

Bathing, rockpooling picnicking and walking are popular here. There is an old fort on Doon Hill worth walking to.

Wildlife and Walks

This stretch of coastline is near Galloway Foerest Park - the Forestry Commission have more information on walking within the park. Walk Highlands give details of walking routes around the local area, such as the River Dee Walk, Kirkcudbright - this is a good one for birders!

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
