To the north of Kingsdown Beach, Deal castle Beach forms part of a long stretch of open shingle and is popular in the summer with residents and visitors alike.


Swimming and fishing are popular here.

Wildlife and Walks

Walk south to St. Margarets Bay and Walmer Castle and Gardens. Managed by English Heritage, this Tudor castle has fantastic gardens and woodland to explore. To the north is Sandwich and Pegwell Bay Reserve, managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust, which is fantastic for wildfowl and waders.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
