A sand and shingle beach flanked by sand dunes and popular with families. It is an internationally recognised nature reserve, designated as a Special Area of Conservation, and boasts over 600 different species of flowering plants in the grassland.


Popular for a dip and swim - there is also an SLSGB Surf Life Saving Club at this beach.

Wildlife and Walks

Guided walks around the Nature Reserve with the Rangers. Walk along the South West Coastal Path to Dawlish. The Rangers also supervise pond-dipping and bird watching activities on the Nature Reserve.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.
