This sandy beach is backed by sand dunes and lies in front of Hartlepool Golf Course. A caravan and holiday park are a little north and Crimdon is surrounded by nature reserves.

Activities

There is a horse riding centre and this is a good spot for birdwatchers.The beach lies on the Durham Coast Path and Harltepool is to the south of the beach.

Wildlife and Walks

Castle Eden Dene National Nature Reserve is to the north of the beach and is wonderful for walking with its limestone cliffs, gorges, woodland and valleys in The Dene. Durham Coast NNR is to the south and is known for its flowers, butterflies and little terns (in the breeding season).
