This large, sandy beach, which sits just in front of Combe Martin, a small resort town, is much loved by families. The beach is in a sheltered valley at the western edge of the Exmoor National Park. There are several pubs and cafes with facilities in the town.

Activities

Coastal walks. This beach is great for rockpooling and for swimming.

Wildlife and Walks

The South West Coast Path runs straight past the beach. There are excellent walks to Little and Great Hangman.

Water samples are taken at this designated bathing water by the Environment Agency, during the bathing season, 15th May to 30th September.

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
