Block Rock is the southern end of Widemouth sands. Blackrock beach is isolated at high tide. The beach is recognisable by a rocky outcrop at its southern end. Popular with surfers due to a combination of reef and beach breaks on the incoming tide.

Activities

Blackrock has a reef-break which is very popular with surfers.

Wildlife and Walks

There are many rockpools harbouring marine life. The coastal path runs past the beach and provides excellent views towards Millook and the coast north of Bude.

What's tested here?

Water samples are not taken at this beach because it has not been designated as a bathing water and there is no voluntary sampling.
Why isn't this a designated bathing water?

High levels of bacteria in the water can indicate pollution from sewage treatment works or polluted rain water draining from the land.
Where does pollution comes from and how can you help?

Water quality can be reduced for up to 72 hours after heavy rain. Look out for temporary signs at the beach and on our website.

Annual classification

2017 Not tested

What does this mean?

At the end of every bathing season the water quality is classified as either:

Excellent — the highest classification meaning the water is cleanest

Good — generally good water quality

Sufficient — meets minimum standards

Poor — You are advised not to swim. The beach will stay open and an action plan should be in place to improve the water quality.
