Join this beach clean to help us stop harmful litter from reaching the ocean and collect vital data that we can use to bring about positive change for our seas.
After the incredible success of our Scapa clean on 5th February this month we would love to see you all again!
We will be joined by Dr Anna Wilson from Glasgow University who will be hosting a workshop after in the Sea Cadet Corps building to discuss 'Future Archaeologies of Marine Litter'.
Tea and biscuits supplied - we would love you to come along as we always love to meet our amazing volunteers andlearn from you.
As usual, Scottish Island Federation will be hosting their data collection event alongside...Please join us for our 'Winter 2023 - Big Data Collection' event.
This is the first of many beach cleans lined up on the isles which aims to provide supporting evidence for the marine litter crisis affecting our beautiful shores. A host (Maddy) will be present from the Scottish Island Federation to lead the event and assist with adherence to data collection methodology. This is to ensure volunteers can replicate the same methodology at future cleaning events and host their own!
We need you to join us in protecting our beaches for the future.
All PPE and equipment provided. Just wrap up warm!

Also worth knowing…
What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).
What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.
Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.
