This Beach Clean event will take place on the beach close to the white cliffs within the Sandwich & Pegwell Bay National Nature Reserve.

The events below last for 2 hours and is open to all to join in.  Children have to be supervised by a responsible adult.  Litter sticks, hoops, and bags are provided.  If you need gloves, please bring your own garden gloves; and wear appropriate clothing for weather on the day (windproof/rainproofs if windy &/or raining) & tough footwear for walking on the beach.

Please also bring along your own water bottle, or refreshment, to quench your thirst!  (Note:  unfortunately the nearby picnic site 'cafe' & 'toilets' are CLOSED durng the winter months).

Detailed access directions to the beach:    From Viking Ship picnic site   >> walk to the north-east corner of the picnic site (Ramsgate direction), then   >> along a footpath adjacent to a field to a road , then  >> turn right & walk down the (former hoverport access) road & at the bottom  >>  turn round to the left around the trees to the start of the sandy beach (above the saltmarsh/mudflats).

The Thanet Coast Project is working jointly with the Kent Wildlife Trust on this beach clean.

Also worth knowing…

What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).

What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.

Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.

47 spaces remaining - join us on the beach whilst there’s still spaces!
