The main aim is to survey a small part of the beach for marine pollution but we will also be doing a larger beach clean.

We will provide litter pickers, gloves, and bags. But please bring your own pickers and gloves if you have them.

Please wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for any weather whilst on the beach. A snack or drink may be good as well.

We have run beach surveys since 2004 and acknowledge that to reduce the rubbish/litter found, we need to understand what it actually is, and then not just collect the items and bin them, but also collect the information. The process is quite forensic and is wonderful when we have a large group because we all have our own knowledge of what "things" are!

Please email [email protected] if you have a question.

Go to www.strandliners.org to see what we get up to.

Also worth knowing…

What to bring: We’d recommend you pack a rucksack with a few essentials like sunscreen, waterproofs, hand sanitiser, and perhaps some snacks and a drink (in a reusable bottle, of course).

What to wear: If you're picking up litter with your hands it's worth wearing a strong pair of gloves - like gardening gloves - just to make sure you're protected. Sturdy shoes are a must for protection too.

Under 16s: To comply with our insurance, volunteers under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult who will be asked to sign a parental / guardian consent form on the day by the beach clean organiser.
